Stone Mountain Cub Pack

As always the cub section has had another productive and fun filled year.

As of 19th February I took over Stone Mountain cub pack. I have been very well supported by the other leaders who have been a great asset. I done my first camp with them in march with a harry potter theme, the cubs had a lot of fun, learning positions and harry potter games, this is the first camp that I have had 16 out of 20 cubs all want a shower due to getting so muddy during the day at free time ect.  We have started to use online payments and emails. This has been a great asset for us making administration much easier. We would eventually like to have everyone paying online subs, limiting the amount of cash held. We now use emails to notify any upcoming events which work well and tell us who can and can’t attend. With over 30 cubs on the books for we have supplied a varied scouting programme for weekly meeting, camps and day events.

So far this year we have had.

  • Cub fun day were they got to do all the activities in one day plus more that was brought in like the animals and bouncy castles.
  • Christmas Camp which went very well.
  • group camp which was really good along with parents for Saturday afternoon
  • mega camp which was an amazing experience for both cubs and leaders, we had 46 cubs for the whole weekend and 5 day visitors who all enjoyed and ended up staying for the rest of the weekend bring it up to 51 cubs, I for one was very knackered.
  • Summer camp with stone cubs and drake beavers they all stayed in tents even the beavers for the first time.
  • Plus badge work and fun filled weekly programs.

Dates Planned so far

  • Lego land sleepover 8-9th September
  • Halloween camp 26th-28th October which will also have the cub fun day on the Saturday
  • Swimming Gala 17th November
  • Indoor camp 8th-10th March 2019
  • Essa Fun Day 2nd June
  • Essa Sailing Stages 14th July

I’d like to say a big thank you to the leaders, young leaders and helpers of Stone Mountain cub pack, as well as the parents who help supports our pack to allow us to give the children what we hope is a fun and varied scouting programme. We look forward to sharing our adventures in the coming year at our next AGM.

If any parents would like to offer their services and help out most weeks please come and speak to me.

Thanks Akela
